Not every trip needs luxury linens and infinity pools. Sometimes, you just want a comfy bed, solid WiFi, and a central location that doesn’t swallow your entire travel budget. That’s where this list of Mid-Budget Hotel Chains I’d Book Again comes in, based on real stays from recent adventures across New York, Dublin, and the UK. Each of these hotels delivered solid value, clean design, and under-€200-a-night vibes (most of the time). Whether you’re planning a solo escape or a trip with your favorite travel buddy, these spots are worth bookmarking.
Motto by Hilton – Times Square, NYC

Vibe: Compact, modern, and right in the thick of Manhattan.
Review: Staying at Motto felt like discovering the rare NYC combo of stylish, central, and actually affordable. A sleek, brand-new hotel that has opened only recently. Small spaces are the NYC norm, and this was no exception, but it had everything we needed: incredibly comfy beds, modern design, daily housekeeping, complimentary water and snacks, and even a mini-fridge. It was the perfect base for a full week of city adventures. That said, not everything was smooth sailing. The curtain was chaotic, constantly getting stuck and even falling off the wall once. The glow from the giant M&M billboard across the street became our uninvited third roommate. If you’re light-sensitive, bring an eye mask.
Price range: $150–$200/night
Would I stay again? 100%, just maybe on a different side of the building or higher up. The location is unbeatable, and the beds slept so well.
Bonus: Quiet, even for Times Square and surprisingly good sleep.
Travelodge Plus – Dublin City Centre

Vibe: Budget chain with a glow-up!
Review: This was one of those “wait, this is a Travelodge?” moments, in the best possible way. Tucked into a quiet neighborhood but close to the action, it was a clean, comfy, and practical place to stay. The room was modern, service was friendly, and they even left a brownie as a welcome treat. (Yes, I immediately ate it. No regrets.) For the price, it absolutely over-delivered!
Price range: €120–€180/night
Would I stay again? Absolutely, especially if I wanted a chill base for exploring.
Bonus: Quiet neighborhood vibes without sacrificing walkability.
Moxy – Manchester City

Vibe: Fun, social, and made for millennial energy.
Review: The second I walked into Moxy, I knew it wasn’t your typical hotel: fun, funky, and full of personality. Trendy interiors, a relaxed atmosphere, and tons of communal space for chilling or playing games. They even gave us a complimentary cocktail at check-in, which was such a cute touch. There were activities happening in the evenings and great seating areas for working, chatting, or just unwinding. Plus, the location? Ideal. Spinningfields is full of modern architecture, chic restaurants, and stylish bars.
Price range: £90–£150/night
Would I stay again? Yes, especially for friend trips or solo stays with a social angle!
Bonus: Playful atmosphere that doesn’t feel like a “chain.”
Courtyard by Marriott – Edinburgh

Vibe: Reliable and refreshingly quiet.
Review: Courtyard by Marriott in Edinburgh is a low-key gem. Not flashy, but very functional and peaceful. The location was excellent, right near a tram station and in walking distance to Old Town, New Town, and the big St. James Quarter mall. After long days exploring, it was nice to come back to a room that was calm and comfy. Also, having a Wetherspoons across the street for cheap food and pints? A fun perk!
Price range: £100–£160/night
Would I stay again? Yes, it’s a solid base with great connectivity.
Bonus: Surprisingly central while still being quiet at night.
Premier Inn – London Farringdon

Vibe: No-frills but no-fuss.
Review: Nothing fancy here, just a super solid stay in one of London’s most convenient neighborhoods. It’s a Premier Inn, so you know exactly what you’re getting. The room was clean, simple, and had everything we needed. We tried the breakfast one morning, and it hit the spot: Full English, pastries, toast, coffee, juice, and they kept topping things up, which was great. The real reason to book this specific location? Location, location, location!! It’s walking distance to St. Paul’s Cathedral, multiple Tube stations (Farringdon and Barbican), and streets full of cute pubs and food options. Easy access to the West End and Liverpool Street Station (if you’re flying in from Stansted Airport) made it incredibly convenient!
Price range: £100-£140/night
Would I stay again? Yes, for the unbeatable transport links and location.
Bonus: Great breakfast buffet and comfy beds for a budget chain!
So there you have it, my roundup of Mid-Budget Hotel Chains I’d Book Again. These stays were reliable, central, and easy on the wallet, ideal for Gen Z and millennial travelers who want value without giving up style or convenience.
