What does €704.67 get you for 5 nights in London? In a city where hotel prices can quickly make your bank account weep, I was determined to find a stay that was comfortable, well-located, and didn’t destroy my student travel budget. Enter the recently renovated Ibis London Earls Court, a mid-range hotel in West London that promised affordable comfort with a touch of style. In this hotel review of Ibis London Earls Court, I’ll share everything about our stay, from the check-in vibes to the breakfast buffet, and whether it’s worth booking for your next London trip.
Location & Accessibility
The Ibis London Earls Court is located in West London at 47 Lillie Road, London SW6 1UD. It’s not in central London, so if your trip is all about hitting up the big tourist hotspots like the London Eye or Oxford Street, you’ll need to factor in some extra travel time. That said, if you’re happy to navigate the Tube (like I proudly do now – certified London public transport pro over here!), it’s actually a great base for the price.
We flew into Stansted Airport and took the Stansted Express to Tottenham Hale, then hopped on the Victoria Line to Victoria Station. From there, we switched to the District Line (Wimbledon branch) and got off at West Brompton, which, bonus points, is less than a 5-minute walk to the hotel entrance. Super convenient after a travel day!
Other nearby stations include Earl’s Court and West Kensington, both walkable if you don’t mind a few extra minutes. There’s also a bus stop right in front of the hotel, though I didn’t personally use it, so I can’t speak to the routes.
The area around the hotel has everything you’d need, a few classic London pubs, and supermarkets like Tesco and Waitrose within walking distance, which was super handy. While it takes about 30 – 45 minutes on the Tube to reach central London, the hotel’s West London location is also well-positioned for exploring spots like Kew Gardens, which is only around a 30-minute ride away.
Overall, if you’re okay with using public transport and want to save a bit on your stay, I’d say this is a solid location that balances affordability with decent connections to the rest of the city.
The Room
We booked a standard twin room for our stay, and our first impression when walking in? Surprisingly fresh. The hotel had recently been renovated (which was mentioned on the website when booking), and you could definitely tell. Everything still felt brand new, clean, and in great condition. If you’ve ever stayed in a well-worn Ibis, you know that’s not always the case, so this was a very welcome surprise.
The style was clean and contemporary, that modern city feel without trying too hard. The room came with all the essentials: a safe, airconditioning, TV, hairdryer, water boiler with tea and coffee, extra pillows, and even a decent amount of floor space for your suitcase explosion. The beds were honestly a standout, super comfy, way more than I expected from an Ibis, which made crashing after long days in the city feel like heaven.

In terms of cleanliness, we had zero complaints throughout our 5-night stay. The room was well-kept, and housekeeping did a great job!
If I had to nitpick one thing: I really missed a proper makeup mirror. There was only a standard mirror above the sink, which was set a little too far back to do any makeup that required precision (winged eyeliner warriors will understand!). A small fold-out mirror would’ve made a huge difference.

The view wasn’t anything to write home about, just other surrounding buildings, but honestly, we weren’t in the room much anyway. For the price we paid and the overall condition of the space, I was more than happy!
Breakfast & On-Site Dining
I booked my stay with breakfast included, and while I don’t remember the exact per-night add-on price (Ibis doesn’t make it super clear online either), I’d say it was definitely worth having it bundled in, especially for convenience.
The hotel offers a classic buffet-style breakfast, and while the quality wasn’t anything mind-blowing, it was totally solid. I genuinely enjoyed most things I tried. The big win here is the variety, there were so many options, which made it easy to mix it up every morning.
They had all the staples for a full English breakfast: scrambled eggs, sunny side up eggs, bacon, (veggie) sausages, hash browns, baked beans, and more. The croissants, toast station, cereal bar, fresh fruit, pancake machine, and a selection of juices, coffee, and tea made it feel more complete than you’d expect at this price point.
That said… skip the veggie sausages unless you’re really curious. They were more like soft veggie mash logs than anything resembling a sausage, not for me.
Even though the breakfast room got very busy, especially closer to 9:00–10:00am (hello, summer crowd), the staff handled it impressively. Tables were cleared quickly, and buffet trays were consistently refilled, even toward the end of service. You didn’t have to show up at 7am to get a decent breakfast, which I appreciated.
The hotel also has a restaurant for lunch and dinner, but I didn’t try it, so I can’t speak to the menu or quality. There’s also a cute little lobby café where you can grab sweet treats and drinks throughout the day, perfect if you just want a coffee or snack before heading out to explore.

Price Breakdown & Value
So let’s talk money. I paid €704.67 for 5 nights in a standard twin room for 2 people, which comes down to about €70 per person per night, breakfast and taxes included. I also got the special Ibis membership rate, which definitely helped knock the price down a bit.
For London in peak tourist season (aka summer), that’s actually a very reasonable price, especially considering the hotel was freshly renovated, well-connected by public transport, and included a pretty decent breakfast buffet.
Honestly, for this price in London, you’re usually looking at either:
- A super tiny budget room in a sketchy part of town,
- A noisy hostel with shared bathrooms,
- Or an older, unrenovated hotel with mystery stains and creaky beds.
So for me, this was outstanding value, especially for a known chain like Ibis, which tends to be very hit-or-miss depending on the location. This one was definitely a hit!
Sure, you could go cheaper if you’re okay with shared rooms or staying far out from the city, and of course, there are tons of more expensive options if you want luxury. But for a mid-budget traveller like me, this was the sweet spot: comfortable, convenient, clean, and at a price I could justify without crying inside.
Would I book it again at the same rate? Absolutely.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Final Thoughts: Would I Stay Here Again?
Yes, I’d absolutely stay here again. For what I paid and what I got, I was genuinely impressed. The Ibis London Earls Court felt clean, comfy, and actually modern, which is rare at this price point in London.
I’d recommend this hotel for:
- Students and mid-budget travellers who want reliable comfort without splurging
- Couples looking for a good location and clean base
- First-time London visitors who aren’t too fussy, but still want quality
- Anyone who doesn’t need luxury, but also doesn’t want to rough it
If you’re someone who needs central-central London or high-end design, this probably won’t be your thing. But if you don’t mind hopping on the Tube and want a balance of price, comfort, and accessibility, it’s a great option, especially post-renovation.
Booking Tips:
- Breakfast is worth it, especially if it’s included in a membership rate, just maybe skip the veggie sausages😉
- Sign up for the Ibis membership: it’s free and the discounted rate was a nice bonus!
All in all, it was the kind of stay that left me pleasantly surprised, and when you’re travelling on a budget, those are the best kind.
